A Body, Land, and War-Eiko Otake (Spring 2026)
A Body, Land, and War-Eiko Otake
February 13, 2026 @ 7:30 PM, Spurrier Dance Theater
On Film and the Program for Dance and Movement are proud to present a new performance entitled A Body, Land, and War from acclaimed dancer Eiko Otake which combines dance, video projection, and storytelling in an exploration of the body’s interactions with catastrophe.
This performance will feature two of her pieces: A Body in Fukushima and What Is War? A Body in Fukushima is a long-running multimedia interrogation of the body’s relation to nuclear catastrophe and to the damaged landscapes of the Anthropocene. What is War? is a deeply vulnerable piece in which the dancer examines notions of fragility and trauma during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945), while exploring the body’s potential as a conduit for historical memory.
The 70 minute performance will be followed by a Q&A.
